All people right to "Free Speech", is guaranteed by the United States Constitution, Amendment I, but is not really free to religious groups.
Especially during the current Presidential Election the government is seeking to muzzle religion
You have to decide. 26 U.S.C. § 501(a) states:

"An organization is described in subsection (c) . . . shall be exempt from taxation under this subtitle . . . ."
In any case, it seems that there exists a price to be paid for exercising free speech. 26 USCS § 501(c)(3) states that corporations and some other organizations had operated exclusively for religious menestrels were entitled to tax exempt status so long as the organization:
". . . doesn't participate in, or intervene in (including too the publishing or distributing of statements), any political campaign on behalf of (or in opposition to) any nominee for public office."

It must be accepted that there is no "fundamental constitutional right" found in being tax relieve.
To the opposite, tax exemption was and still is a statutory privilege.
So, one could be misled into conceiving that the above stated law really is "constitutional." There is a two-step operation to determining whether or not a law is constitutional
